The Rabbit went bumperless last night. I like the look as much as I thought I would, which is to say, quite a bit. I’ll be taking the front off as well, as soon as I figure out where/how/what to do with the blinkers.

Also I ordered an OEM key to replace the generic ones that car has.Mine are all plastic missing the windowed VW logo.

I’ve seen a couple without the front bumper where they just mount the indicators in the bumper mount holes.  Looks great.

I’m also pretty keen on that look. And the 2.5”. Square blinkers they use are only like 10 bucks a piece

Buy some flat atv Blinkers and stick em between the rails of the grill. A friend in Highschool did that, looked great.

My 2nd car wayyyyy back in the day was an 80 rabbit 4 door in root beer brown (automatic BOO!) I had my bumper off for 2 hours between swapping the one from my dead jetta.

And almost got a ticket. Cop let me go when i showed him the new bumper sitting inside  the hatch :).

This gonna be an issue where you are?

I highly doubt it. Wisconsin will let you drive anything that moves and has current registration(and they don’t do inspections) The only vehicle related violation you might get is a cracked windshield or loud exhaust.

Also my brother in law’s first car was a tan 82 Rabbit 4 door, but it was a diesel. It was soooo slow. I still liked it tho. I wish I could swap the nice brown interior from his car into mine but it’s long gone.

I very much have but that would cost money.
